Be wary of a friendly "wrong number" text that turns into a conversation

A text that says "sorry, wrong number" and then keeps the conversation going — friendly small talk over days or weeks, eventually steering toward a "great investment opportunity" or a crypto platform — is a well-documented scam pattern, not a genuine mistake. A real wrong number ends the conversation once it's clear; one that keeps building rapport is working toward something. Don't reply beyond confirming the mistake, and never move a conversation that started this way toward money, investments, or a platform they recommend.
