Keep your 2FA recovery codes somewhere that isn't your phone

Two-factor authentication is one of the most effective account protections there is — right up until the phone it's tied to is lost, stolen, or broken, at which point it can lock you out of your own accounts just as effectively as it locks out an attacker. Every service that offers 2FA also gives you one-time recovery codes when you set it up. Save them somewhere that isn't the phone itself — printed and stored safely, or in a password manager you can reach from another device.
