Don't trust caller ID — it can be spoofed completely

Caller ID showing your bank's real number, or even a family member's actual phone number, doesn't mean the call is genuine — spoofing that display is trivial and common. Treat caller ID as informational at best, not proof of identity, and verify anything sensitive through a channel you initiate yourself, not the incoming call.
